Lynda Salerno Gehrman Pilates Studio Director & Founder

Lynda Salerno Gehrman is the owner and a senior instructor at Physio Logic Pilates & Movement. This year celebrates 10 years from when she simultaneously opened two studios, the flagship in Brooklyn Heights and a boutique outpost on Manhattan’s Upper East Side.

A veteran Pilates teacher for 18 of her 20 plus years as a student, Gehrman fell in love with this method, at the age of just 15, during her very first lesson. She was awarded a scholarship from the Dance Alliance to study at a classical Pilates studio in Boston. She later studied in London under the tutelage of esteemed European Pilates teacher Alan Herdman, it was then she realized the vast spectrum of the work. She earned her first certificate from Stott Pilates, 5 years after her very first lesson. Tying together her training, her studios are now the BASI Pilates teacher training centers of NYC for which she serves as assistant faculty at their California headquarters. Now a reputable Pilates educator in her own right, she has appeared on the cover of Pilates Style magazine, for which she’s penned several articles.

While she equally enjoys working with the professional athlete as much as the exercise novice, She specializes in using her keen eye to reorganize sport specific gait patterns, recognize muscle initiation and imbalances, and teach corrective strength training, applying the works of Pilates to any practice.

Lynda adamantly continues in depth dance studies in NYC. A student from childhood, she received a BA in Dance Performance/Composition. Her motivation as a dancer and choreographer brought her to London for 4 years, before settling in NYC, where she taught Pilates and thrived as a dancer/ choreographer for commercials, music videos, fashion shows, and concert tours. She has also served as the dance director and choreographer for the World and European Scholar Athlete Games under the Institute for International Sport for 13 years.

Gehrman considers herself forever a student of Pilates and of movement. She is most proud of working alongside the inspiring practitioners at Physio Logic and collaborating with her husband at their Brooklyn facility.
